Background
Following one of those chance conversations in a local pub, I discovered that the school my daughter’s attend was looking for a local agency to help them redesign their logo.

Brief
The brief was to create a logo that was bright and colourful to match the ‘Rainbow Values’ of this Church of England school, as well as depicting their new school motto… ‘Shining the Light of Learning’.

There was just one more consideration… the school wanted the students to be involved in the design process.

Solution
To kick things off, a competition was launched within the school where students of all ages were invited to submit the designs they would like as the new school logo. The most promising entries were shortlisted and it was then down to the Headteacher and the School Council to pick the winner.

My part of this project was then to adapt the winning design, by Amelia Hopkinson, into a more considered and professional-looking school logo that would work effectively across all print and digital applications.

The key elements of the new logo/crest are the inclusion of the bright colours to portray the school’s Rainbow Values, the open book to indicate learning and the cross to connect with the Church of England.

You can see both the winning design and the final logo side-by-side below, as well as an image at the bottom of the page from 2019 published in the local newspaper showcasing the new logo launch featuring my daughter and I 😍
